Dr Jacob Paul

Dr Jacob Paul is a cognitive neuroscientist at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, where he leads the Maths At The Human Scale (MATHS) Lab. His interests include numerical cognition (including dyscalculia), encoding of time, and visual-spatial perception.

His research spans multiple levels of explanation from mapping the organisation of neural circuits underlying transformations of visual quantities, to modelling longitudinal patterns of maths learning, and characterising individual differences in numerical decision making.

He is also interested in better understanding visual disturbances or perceptual distortions following use of psychedelics, particularly as they relate to Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD).
