Why do we have thoughts? Or the ability to think about these thoughts? What shapes our experience as we slip from wakefulness into sleep? Or drives the sensation of delight when stretching our limbs? And what makes humans more complex than robots?
These questions draw attention to one of the greatest challenges and unsolved mysteries of human life: our consciousness – an understanding of our own inner universe.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, Melbourne-Monash Consciousness Research is pursuing an understanding of the science of consciousness and translating the research to everyday life.
